His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa — the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him — chaired the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
In addition, the Council was keen to support young people by adopting national policies aimed at developing education and training and enhancing the link between sports and national identity. During this period, Bahrain also witnessed its first participation in Gulf, Arab, and Asian competitions, contributing to elevating Bahrain’s name on the regional and international stage.This period witnessed the true foundational phase of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, during which the first building blocks were laid for an organized youth and sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain at that time. Efforts focused on establishing regulations and laws related to youth and sports, the creation of sports clubs and the development of their infrastructure, as well as the establishment of federations for various games to promote the spread of sports across all segments of society.
In addition, the Council was keen to support young people by adopting national policies aimed at developing education and training and enhancing the link between sports and national identity. During this period, Bahrain also witnessed its first participation in Gulf, Arab, and Asian competitions, contributing to elevating Bahrain’s name on the regional and international stage.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa — the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him — chaired the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
Moreover, special attention was given to building administrative and technical competencies through specialized training and qualification programs, in line with the national direction toward adopting professional sports policies.
At the youth level, Bahrain launched several initiatives aimed at promoting volunteerism and increasing youth participation in community activities, which contributed to raising awareness and strengthening their involvement in serving the nation across various fields.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa — Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, may God protect him —chaired the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
This phase also witnessed the launch of several national strategies and initiatives, such as the Nasser bin Hamad Sports and Youth Strategy, the Talent Discovery Program, the Nasser bin Hamad Creativity Award, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) championships, and the World Endurance Championship.
Additionally, Bahrain invested heavily in developing sports infrastructure through the modernization of stadiums and facilities and the construction of modern youth centers, reflecting the Kingdom’s keenness and continuous efforts to consolidate its position on the map of sports and youth achievements at both regional and international levels.
Furthermore, this phase has been distinguished by the strengthening of sports investment, transforming it into one of the pillars that contribute to supporting the national economy in line with Bahrain’s future vision.
